The sun is setting over a city with mountains in the background.

“Tomorrow, that’s really where you have to be. You’ve got to look forward. It’s different players, different teams, it’s a different time. The past is irrelevant. It’s the game in front of you!”

Dear Friends and Clients (one in the same)

This is a snippet from an article I was reading about change and tomorrow – any tomorrow! I thought it was incredibly relevant to where we all are right now – in a position of an altered state.

We all remember yesterday and how we performed and what was necessary to be successful. A lot of that is still relevant today but as the quote above states, it’s a different time, the past is irrelevant, we have to deal with the nuances of today and tomorrow.

There are people who are bullish, tentative, afraid, sequestered, uncaring, sympathetic, empathetic, on and on and on.

So, what category do you fall into and I’m sure I’ve missed a few?

But the most important thing to ask yourself is: where do your clients fit in these adjectives. We must be empathetic and understand who and what we’re dealing with. They are probably different than yesterday – so what are they made of today. It’s critical to your success and their success.

It’s time to innovate, practice extreme listening skills and try to hear what every individual is trying to say. We’ve got to understand what their today and tomorrow look like, in life and business of course – not too separated from each other.

Good luck, keep listening.
